Some memories!!!

September 4, 2006

Hi frnds!!!
Its been quite a time…that I didn’t write anything…
Well…I didn’t have much to write…
These days most of my friends r moving 2 U.S
August 1st week,my building/school friend went….
and two weeks back one of my best friends went off to U.S…2
Well….am happy 4 all my frnds who r moving ahead and acheiving their dreams!!
Best of luc….

Well…this week it is Onam week…In Maharashtra it is not celebrated much….
But in Kerala this is a festive week…

Onam is one of the greatest festivals of Kerala. It is the festival, which the keralites celebrates unitedly without the difference of caste and religion.

When I was a kid,we used invite as well go to other houses for onam…
It was fun…all woman flock used to be in kitchen busy preparing all type of delicacies and we children used to do all type of masti…
And we have food on a banana leaf….and there used to different type of sabizis almost 15-20 ..with papad…banana chips and one thing I liked the most…’Shakravarti‘ .Its a stuff made of jaggery ,chips and a little of dried ginger.
And after all this …..we have the best porridge…kheer…
It’s not a normal  kheer…this is made of stuff called ‘ada’
On onam …it is specially prepared for onam and is called  ‘Ada pradanam’…..Oh…my mouth is watering….

In Kerala…..more things are added to it..
Actually speaking Onam is a celebration of Ten days. It comes in the month of “Chingam” according to Malayalam calender. People put flower mats in front of their houses, to welcome the King Mahabali. There will be competition for the laying of flower mats.( a flower rangoli). They will wear new dresses(patt pavada), will be visiting almost all temples which they can, they will be performing lot of dances and  Most important thing is the grant lunch(as I said before) they will be having on the Thiuruvonam day which is also called the Fourth Onam.
There is a saying in Malayalam that “Kanam Vittu Onam Unnanam” which means “We should have the Thiruonam lunch even if we have to sell all our properties”. They give that much importance to the lunch on the Thiruonam day.
Also their are boat races and elephant competitions ….

Chalo tommorrow is the day….I hope to help mom….cya…take care
                                      Happy Onam!!!!

Seawater turns Sweet,Believe it or Not!!!!

August 20, 2006

I had decided on Friday nite…..have 2 go 2 office 2morrow…..as i had a lot of work……
but dint take any measures 2 sleep early
and got up very very late……..just to get a sms from my frnd….
He had send it quite early in the morning…..but i got up late…..so i read it late….
It was …”hey I heard …..Mahim bridge ke yahan ka water has turned sweet….
I got this news from aajtak news…see it….its said to be a miracle.”
I jus thought he was playin some prank….as usual….people do thru sms…..
but then as I opened a site in my comp….It also showed d same news….
I was shocked….I immediately told dad to switch to aajtak or any of the mumbai
channels…

It was showing how mahim sea water has turned sweet…..with no salty taste in it.
It was said that it was miracle…..it showed tonnes and tonnes of people coming there to take the water to have it and take it to their near and dear ones….

Even they showed two police officals…who had actually come to stop people
from drinking this water….had themselves tasted it….and both had their own
opinions….
One was with d same opinion as d people and one said it tasted as a normal drinking…water….and he dint find it sweet.

It was really a breaking news….and stayed in all news channels….the whole day.

But BMC had banned people from going there and had issued a notice
that “The  water is not fit for drinking, it is very poisonous”
But it dint make a difference…..so many people poured in as all felt it to be a miraculous sign frm GOD.
And it did bring  unity 2…as Muslims came there as they felt..its al coz of their
Allah….and Hindus….coz of their God…and Christains coz their’s a famous Church in Mahim
where miraculos signs take place….most of the time…and people from all religions go there…

But can a sea water become sweet…can salinity go way totally…
They say there is change in the percentage of chemicals…so due some reaction..the water went sweet…
Scientists say sea water turning sweet at the Mahim bay is not a unique phenomenon.
“When river water flows into the sea during low tide (in this case Mithi river to the Mahim bay) there is a possibility that the river and sea waters don’t mix well, forming a band of low saline water”
Many more such phenomenon came forward from many scientists.
But it dint seem to change people’s mind.
Anywys got a similar news outside mumbai also… near Surat.
I hope it does not turn out to be same story as we heard about..Lord Ganesha drinking milk almost 10 yrs bac.

Do you really think these scientific reasons satisfy u…or u 2 feel there’s somethin spiritual about this.
Still once again we have a debate on SCIENCE over SPIRITUALITY

U keep thinking abt this, till thn I m signin off,Till then take care :)
cya

Proud to be Indian!!!

August 14, 2006

August 15th is the day on which India gained independence after nearly 200 years of British rule

India is a unique study in contrasts.

A country that is changing rapidly, yet remains timeless. An economic superpower in the making, many of whose people still live in inhuman poverty.

Battered by natural and man-made disasters in recent years, India has been held together by the goodness of its people in its worst hour.

A symbol of great hope to many, for others it has fallen to the depths of no return.

Yet, in spite of it all, there is a magic about India that never ceases to astonish.

It shows a United India.

Independence Day  is celebrated with flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs in the state capitals. The Prime Minister’s speech at the Red Fort in Delhi is the major highlight.

THE NATIONAL ANTHEM OF INDIA being Jana-Gana-Mana(Thou Art the Ruler of All Minds) and  The National Song of India being VANDE MATARAM is sung on this occasion.

The Indian National Flag represents the hopes and aspirations of the people of India. It is the symbol of our national pride. The significance of the colours and the chakra in the National Flag was amply described by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan in the Constituent Assembly which unanimously adopted the National Flag.

Dr. S. Radhakrishnan explained—“Bhagwa or the saffron colour denotes renunciation of disinterestedness.  Our leaders must be indifferent to material gains and dedicate themselves to their work.  The white in the centre is light, the path of truth to guide our conduct.  The green shows our relation to soil, our relation to the plant life here on which all other life depends.  The Ashoka Wheel in the center of the white is the wheel of the law of dharma.  Truth or satya, dharma or virtue ought to be the controlling principles of those who work under this flag.  Again, the wheel denotes motion.  There is death in stagnation.  There is life in movement.  India should no more resist change, it must move and go forward.   The wheel represents the dynamism of a peaceful change.”

And while we are celebrating this Independence Day, we realize that we may have our differences of opinion, but the spirit of India runs in all of us.

At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance….. We end today a period of ill fortune, and India discovers herself again

India is celebrating its 59th year of Independence today.Let’s be a part of it.

                       HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

I AM PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN ,ARE YOU?

Happy Friendship Day!!!!

August 5, 2006

Hey Friends !!!

Happy Friendship Day!!!

Hope you all r having a good time with your friends.

Jus found a good stuff about Friendship day… so dropped in some.

Friendship is not about leading or following, it is simply being with each other to share each and every single moment of our lives. These simple words contain in themselves the entire beauty of friendship.

Though the Friendship Day is celebrated with great pomp and show in all over the world but not much is known about how this celebration started.

However many folktales and mythological stories reveal the fact that friendship has been valued as a relationship since the commencement of the civilized world.

As far as the history of the Friendship day is concerned it is said that in 1935 the first Sunday of August was proclaimed as the Friendship Day. Since then the celebration of the Friendship Day became an annual event in United Sates.

Slowly this tradition spread to other countries too and they also started celebrating this day with much excitement.

Winnie – the Pooh was appointed as the Friendship’s world ambassador by the United States in 1997.

Friendship Day has been dedicated to those friends who make our lives merrier and give a meaningful direction to the path of our lives.

On Friendship Day people try their best to thank all those special angels called friends in their lives from the bottom of their hearts.

There are some people who believe that friendship is so strong a relationship that it needs no special day for celebration.

But then also it is a tried and tested fact that every relationship, no matter how strong needs some recognition and the Friendship Day enables you to do just the same that is it allows you to give due recognition to the beautiful bond of friendship which you share with your friend.

At times we get so busy with our lives that we just start taking our friends for granted and just start neglecting them. If I had ever did this with my friends, I am sorry. :(

On such occasions this Friendship Day reminds us of the importance of the friends in our lives so that we can never ever ignore the special beings sent on this earth by the supreme power just for us.

Thus take some extra time out of your busy life and try to spend some valuable time with your friends on this

Friendship Day as you never know when the time will lapse and you wont even get the slightest time to say a simple thanks to your friend.

Do remember this as its very important….

Thanks for being there…

Once again Happy Friendship Day!!!! Do spend some quality time with ur friends..show them that u r around , u care for them…..

cya…have a gr8 time :) and thanks for being there 4 me….

As we were getting down in Kanjur…a station 2-3 stations after Thane… we offered to help her… ..

We helped her get out in the station and as a train back to Thane was standing in the platform….

we told her to catch that train or else…we will report to the the platform police… they will help her !! but she kooly got in the train…she told her mom will wait in Thane :)

Kya Twist hai Life mein !!!!

July 29, 2006

Disclaimer : This story is work of fiction.Any resemblence with any living person in India is purely coincidential.Author holds no responsibility for the same and no lawsuits will be entertained.

She was going through the college gates as ususal carrying a lot more of books than she can afford to. She normally used to look here and there as soon as she came out.

But today, she was walking straight to a shop, no looking here and there.

What had went wrong to this bubbly , chirpy girl ? She dint look the same. She looked a lot upset :(

It was a bad afternoon for her. Normally classes used to start from 10 to 5 . But she was one of the sincere ones who used to do all the lectures , but she wud bunk to wen all her frnds did so.

But 2day, she seemed alone…..u wud never c her alone…she always used to be crowded with frnds. :D

But 2day something had gone wrong , she was not her normal self. :(

She walked slowly to the shop, asked if he had got a aspirin. The shop keeper knew her well, so he asked her “What happened to you Neha beta, you looked fine in the morning and now you look so tense, anything wrong and arey aspirin is over, I will bring it by today evening?” :) ” Neha was about to say something ki she remembered , she carrying lot of books with her and now her hands could not anymore take the load so she asked the shop keeper to keep the books for sometime.

The shopkeeper happily took it and Neha gave a weak smile and said “thanks!!!! uncle”

She didnt want to go to hostel now, becoz she knew all will notice the difference and ask her what had happened and her roomies, she cant keep anything away from them, they would easily find out. So she decided to wait in the near by Dhaba.

This Dhaba was just outside of the college and a gr8 place to sit. Most of the college guys and gals used to spend a lot time there. In the PLs (Preparation Leave) people used to study there and for college bunkers it was normal sit out place. :D

For Neha , this place was safe as it was afternoon and this time , it was always empty. She headed to the Dhaba , just to take the third bench, but to her dismay, there was a big crowd of students inside and it was just impossible for her to move in , in this condition as mostly all students knew her and she didnt want create a scene. :(

She quietly moved into the college campus and started to move. She found a quiet place near the Textile Department. And she started thinking about what had happened this afternoon. It made her cry lightly… she quickly wiped her face.

She started thinking…………………………………………

She and Raj were just friends, then why was she upset. What had happened?

She just didnt know, why was she feeling so low.

Raj was her best friend. He was the first guy she got to know during their ragging days. Kya din the woh. She remembered mostly everything, how seniors used to give them many tasks and how she and Raj used to do them together or help eachother…

They both had a good time together. Neha had a lot of good friends , but Raj was special. :)

She and Raj shared mostly all secrets and they used to play a lot of tantrums on others. Their Departments were different, but that hardly mattered. They made it a point to do masti as well studies. So both of them mostly were good in their classes too.

Its been three years since they were best friends. They never used interfere in each other’s life and that was the best thing about their relationship, both had their own space.

But today something happened and neha was very upset about it and reason she couldn’t get herself.

Today morning all was fine. She met Raj on the stairs of her department as usual and they had a quick “hi hello” as they were getting late for their lectures.

During her break, her localite friend Rachna told her that she and Raj had many things in common and she just couldnt stop thinking about Raj.

But, this was not new Raj was liked by many gals and they used to come to Neha and tell her to do something for them and Neha never minded this also as this was all fun and Raj would always used to say ” What is this Neha, u know I dont like this yaar ” and Neha would say “This is fun, may be you will get someone becoz of me one day :) and then you will say thanks Neha you made my life”

Little did she know or think that if something like this happens one day then it will disturb her so much And it happened today,

In the afternoon when Neha met Raj….. They had their normal college chat and then Raj told Neha something that neha could harldy believe!!!!!!

He slowly started up “Hey Neha, Thanks dear, your words have come true, i think i like Rachna”

Neha couldn’t hardly believe her ears, what was Raj saying and at the same time she didnt know why she was not happy when she should be the MOST HAPPY PERSON FOR RAJ.

She helped a weak smile and said “Congrats Raj, I have some work , will catch u later ”

“Hey Neha, come on I am telling something important and you dont have time, not done. Ok fine, we will meet in the evening and I will tell you everything ok, even I have a class to catch , chalo …cya” saying this Raj ran off to catch his classmates….

Neha didnt know why she was not happy and she kept asking herself…….this thing and suddendly she saw her watch and it was 5:30…and she came out of her thoughts

“Oh how long I had been here…good that noone noticed me Oops!!!! its 5:30 , Raj will be here anytime I should go from here, he should not find me this way and anywys Rachana is a good gal, I should be happy and I am happy” muttered Neha to herself and headed to her Hostel….

A good stuff!!!! Go thru

July 26, 2006

Humm …hi frnds….i hope i didnt keep u waiting…. :)
Well..life these days are quite busy and usme se….2 take time 4 a lazy person like me is a big thing…..haha
Well jokes apart, in last + this week i saw two current movies..one was Golmaal and one was Yu hota tho kya hota… I hope the movies names are correct…there is a lot problem with names….
Golmaal is ok comedy…ya but u will surely laugh on tushar ( gr8 acting) and others except Ajay Devgan are born comedians…. so they are gr8 chemistry 2gether….
bas problem is Ajay Devgan, a gr8 actor but a flop comedian and the heroine ( am sorry if i hurtin all the fans :) )
Well for a break you can see the movie for sure…
The one i really liked was ‘Yu hota tho kya hota’ . A gud movie by a gr8 person -Nazarudin Shah…and i shud tell all the actors( i mean all) have done a fabulous job. If u have not seen the movie, do go and c. Its worth cing .. :)
I am sorry …i cant help….i will reveal some part of the story… coz i really liked it..
The story has 4 stories going side by side….( hey not like darna mana hai stuff) . These all r real stories and going on side by side……
The movie has Nazarudin Shah’s son also as a frnds character in one of the four stories … and i shud say he has done a fabulous job….sachi…. and konkana sen ,Paresh Rawal…. its a gr8 movie….a mix of all emotions….comedy…tragedy and very real……
Ya, its very true …what u heard….all of them go to U.S and there’s all visa milne ka stuff….
so people applyin 4 U.S visa….watch ths movie :D One of my frnds had told me 2 watch d movie….and thnks 2 him…. i did watch and i liked it a lot….
Chalo no more story tellin….. I dont want to reveal d suspense :( …incase you wanna see the movie …. :)
